Shippensburg Invitational AA boys: Annville-Cleona's Shawn Wolfe and Ben Mason make a big impression

Shawn Wolfe (5), shown here competing in the 2012 PIAA Class AA Cross Country Championship, turned in a win in the 800 while assisting two relay teams to victory during Saturday's Shippensburg University High School Track and Field Invitational, held at Seth Grove Stadium. - (Chris Knight, The Patriot-News)

Annville-Cleona's Shawn Wolfe and Ben Mason are establishing themselves as quite a deadly duo.

If all goes according to plan, the pair could make some major noise at the upcoming district and state meets.

Wolfe and Mason combined for four wins to highlight locals at Saturday's 87th Jack Roddick/Shippensburg University High School Track and Field Invitational, held at Seth Grove Stadium.

Wolfe smoked the field in the 800 (1:55.94) while Mason took victory in the 200 (23.14). Both were member's of the Dutchmen's winning 4x400 and 4x800 teams.

"We want to win states in the 4x800 and individually, I want to win the 800 at states," Wolfe said. "When my teammates hand me the baton within striking distance, I feel like I can beat anyone else in the state."

In the morning's 4x800 race, Annville-Cleona faced a major deficit against Trinity. But on the third leg, Mason took off sprinting and he never stopped, even after passing the Shamrocks' Chris Giordano.

Mason handed the baton off to Wolfe with the lead and Wolfe did not disappoint, finishing the job to help his team post a time of 8:13.42.

"I'm used to kicking it on my first lap, but I didn't have as much in the tank as I thought," Mason said. "I was able to go out hard and keep it going because of my endurance.

"When you hand the baton to Shawn, even with a sizable gap, he's pretty clutch. If you give it to him with the lead, there's no way anyone can beat him."

Wolfe showcased his individual abilities in the 800 by winning the open event with a five-second victory.

He credits the win to a strong team.
"I'm really happy, it's nice to have a good team to practice with," Wolfe said. "I know the harder I go, the better the team is going to be."

East Juniata's David Brantley was a two-event winner, taking victory in the 110 hurdles (15.71) and 300 hurdles (40.66).

Another local winner was Boiling Springs' Jonathan Goodson (1,600, 4:36.68).

Hempfield's Sarah Helgeson won the 400 in the Shippensburg Invitational on Saturday. - (JEFF REINHART | PennLive.com)

LANCASTER - Eight L-L League athletes - and a pair of relay teams - won gold on Saturday in the Jack Roddick Invitational at Shippensburg University.

Annville-Cleona had a whopper of a day, with reigning L-L League cross country champ Shawn Wolfe and Ben Mason winning individual events, and then helping the Little Dutchmen win a pair of relay events.

The lowdown ...

* Annville-Cleona's Ben Mason won the 200 in 23.14. He's the two-time reigning District 3 Class AA 400 champ.

HS track and field: Nothing draws a crowd like steeplechase

$
0
0
Daniel Green, shown here in the state cross country meet, was one of the runners in Saturday's steeplechase. - (Paul Chaplin, Pennive.com)

Steeplechase: A fan favorite
At the Shippesnburg Relays this past weekend, there were 19 events for each classification. In addition to the usual 18, there was the 2,000-meter steeplechase, and as usual, it drew a crowd to the end of the stadium where one steeple had a water trap behind it. Well over 100 people, mostly athletes from other events watched as first girls, then boys, took on the challenge of hurdling the steeple and staying dry. Or mostly dry. Or, in the case of James Buchanan's Daniel Green, not dry at all. In his first attempt, he slipped and fell stomach first into the water. He got up, briefly acknowledged the roaring crowd with a shrug of his shoulders, and continued the race. However, when that same crowd chanted "cannonball" periodically through the event, no runner obliged.

Trinity 4x800 success
The first event of Saturday's Shippenburg Invitational was the AA girls' 4x800, which Trinity won with a 10:07.86. The unit of Anne Maffey, Amanda Kusztos, Emily Dethlefs and Shannon Quinn seems to really be coming together. "We were a little nervous, this was our first big meet together," Quinn said. But no one would have known as the Shamrocks won the event by over 12 seconds. "Our coaches told us just to come out and run our best times," Kusztos said.

Trinity 4x400 heartbreak
As well as things went for the 4x800 squad, Trinity's 4x400 girls' team ended the Shippensburg relays with a bad taste in its mouth. It appeared that the Shamrocks had won the event with a 4:12.15. But a couple of minutes after the results had been handed to the media, there was a revision: Trinity had been disqualified for throwing the baton after its victory. That gave the win to St. Basil, which ran a 4:14.14.

HS Baseball: District 3 releases first set of power ratings

$

District 3 released its first set of official power ratings this morning, with Red Land (Class AAAA), Manheim Central (Class AAA), Delone Catholic (Class AA) and Newport (Class A) holding penthouse views in their respective classifications.

The power ratings are based on a mathematical formula that factors in a team's weighted winning percentage (55-percent) and their opponents' weighted winning percentage. Games against non-PIAA opponents do not count towards a team's power rating, used exclusively to seed teams for the District 3 Tournament beginning May 20.

The Top 16 teams in Class AAAA and Class AAA, and Top 8 in Class AA and A, will qualify for districts. The D3 cutoff is May 14. Unlike prior seasons, preliminary round games have been eliminated.

The District 3 championships will be contested at Sovereign Bank Stadium in York on May 29-30.

LANCASTER - Just thumbing through the District 3 spring rankings, and took note of several L-L League teams ranked atop their respective races.

Five L-L League teams currently own a No. 1 ranking, based on power points accumulated through victories, winning percentage and strength of schedule - among other things.

I still haven't quite wrapped my head around how to calculate an actual power-point number. But take it from me: The good folks in the District 3 home office are on top of it, and they have bigger, fancier calculators than me.

Moving on ...

Here are the five - count 'em, five - L-L League teams that currently own a No. 1 ranking, with other notes and links sprinkled in there for your reading and mouse-clicking pleasure:

Two girls' teams are No. 1 ...

In Class AAAA softball, Conestoga Valley (8-1) is ranked first.

And in Class AAA softball, Donegal (11-0) is ranked first.

VIDEO: DONEGAL CATCHER MADI EMENHEISER INTERVIEW

Conestoga Valley has some company in Class AAAA, with rampaging Hempfield (9-2) at No. 5 and Solanco (7-2) at No. 6.

Likewise in Class AAA, where Donegal has Lampeter-Strasburg (10-1) at No. 3 and reigning District 3 champ Manheim Central (7-3) at No. 7 both closing in. FYI: The Indians, Pioneers and Barons are slugging it out for L-L League Section 3 supremacy.

Three L-L League teams are clogging up in the middle in the Class AA softball race, with Annville-Cleona (7-3) at 5, Pequea Valley (7-3) at 6 and Lancaster Mennonite (8-3) at 7.

The other three L-L League teams with No. 1 district rankings are boys' squads:

On the baseball diamond, Manheim Central (10-1) is tops in Class AAA. The Barons have some local company, with Donegal (12-1) at No. 3 and Pequea Valley (9-2) at No. 6.

In Class AAAA baseball, three teams are knocking on the door for the top spot, with Hempfield (10-3) at 3, Warwick (10-3) at 4 and Ephrata (10-2) at 5.

Two more L-L League baseball teams are in the top 10: Annville-Cleona (7-6) is No. 9 in Class AA and Lebanon Catholic (2-10) is No. 9 in Class A.

And a pair of L-L League volleyball teams sit atop their respective classifications:

Hempfield is No. 1 in Class AAA.

Manheim Central is No. 1 in Class AA.

Lancaster Mennonite (8-1) is No. 4 in Class AA.

* Speaking of Hempfield volleyball ... the Black Knights participated in the heavy-duty Koller Classic tournament at Central York last weekend. Hempfield and Section 1 rival Penn Manor both advanced to the second round of the playoff pool, but it ended there for the Knigths and the Comets. Hempfield fell to eventual runner-up Bethlehem Catholic (25-20) and Penn Manor lost to Ambridge (25-18). In a state-powerhouse finale, North Allegheny topped Becahi 2-1 (23-25, 25-18, 15-8).

* Interestingly, no L-L League lacrosse team currently owns a No. 1 ranking. Manheim Township, which has won the last four girls' district titles in a row, is 9-3 and ranked No. 11. Hempfield (8-1) is No. 2 and Penn Manor, which snapped the Blue Streaks' 42-game league winninig streak earlier this season, is 10-3 and No. 8.

* In the boys' lax rankings, Manheim Township (11-1) is No. 2 and reigning District 3 and league champ Ephrata (9-2) is No. 7. Carlisle, which fell to Ephrata in last year's district finale, is 9-0 and ranked first; the Thundering Herd topped Penn Manor in a rematch of last year's championship in a non-league game last week.

* The four L-L League boys' team tennis semifinalists are also in excellent shape to make the District 3 team tournament; In Class AAA, Manheim Township (11-0) is No. 3, Hempfield (13-2) is No. 5 and Manheim Central (15-1) is No. 6. And in Class AA, Elco (12-1) is No. 4.

The L-L League semifinals are Monday and the title match is Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Warwick. Stay tuned for coverage from the finals.

In case you missed it, the L-L League singles and doubles tournaments start Thursday.

* If you hadn't noticed, Manheim Central is having quite the spring season. The Barons' baseball team is No. 1 in the district rankings; the boys' volleyball team is No. 1 in the district rankings; the boys' tennis team won Section 2 and is in the league playoffs; and the track and field team is locked in a duel with Garden Spot for section honors - which could be settled Monday when the Barons and the Spartans duke it out in New Holland.

HS Baseball notebook: Digesting the shrinking District 3 postseason

Central Dauphin first baseman Tim Hobbs is hoping to land on his cleats at Kutztown in the fall. - (Pennlive.com photo )

Monday's first batch of District 3 Baseball power ratings revealed some interesting news, like the overall health of the Lancaster-Lebanon League and those neighbors in and around York County.

Those six-digit values also revealed another nugget, that parity in the district's deepest conference, the 32-team Mid-Penn, might not be such a positive thing after all.

DISTRICT 3 POWER RATINGS

Several district-wide skippers have expressed some concern over the district's dismissal of four additional seeds in the top two classifications – from 20 to 16 in Class AAAA and AAA – and two each (10 to 8) in Class AA and A.

The debate has a few sticking points.

Part 1 revolves around the rigors of toiling in a sturdy division like the Mid-Penn Commonwealth, long considered one of the state's most grueling even before credible outfits State College and Mifflin County, two District 6 contenders, entered the fray.

Part 2 deals with a heady outfit confined to a less-explosive division, where 45-percent of a team's power rating is directly linked to the strength of the opposition.

In a nutshell, the restricted brackets will deny some worthy Class AAAA and AAA teams, possibly one or two that faced terrific competition all season. There's no denying that fact under the new guidelines.

Still, the district could argue that concerns over the weather – always hit or miss in this neck of the woods – made the preliminary round, or eight total games in one day, an unnecessary risk, or that too few programs sitting between seeds 17 and 20 under the old standard had significant postseason success.

That last part is a hard sell, considering 14th-seeded Central Dauphin grabbed one of three PIAA bids in 2012, and 13th-seeded Penn Manor finished runner-up to eventual-champion Cedar Crest. The year before, 16th-seeded Cedar Cliff walked away with the D3-AAAA title, beating 10-seed Manheim Twp.

Using that history, it's not unreasonable to suggest a team seeded 17-to-20 could have similar success in the near future, especially in a sport dominated by pitching. Maybe the easiest way to avoid missing the postseason is to simply win more regular season games. How many is anyone's guess.

SPEAKING OF DISTRICTS: Realizing that today's power-rating pecking order will change drastically down the stretch, folks outside the Mid-Penn Conference have to be thrilled. If the postseason began today, exactly half of the 22 YAIAA programs, and half from Berks County, would qualify. Add in 10 more from the 24-team Lancaster-Lebanon League. Those are significant sums considering only 10 of 32 Mid-Penn programs would make it.

NCAA BOUND: A three-time Mid-Penn Conference all-star, West Perry shortstop Ryan McMillen will continue to baseball career at Shippensburg University. McMillen, fueling the Mustangs' 11-0 start, returns after hitting .392 with 25 runs, 21 RBI and 18 stolen bases in 2012. …

Three Central Dauphin standouts also weighed in with their college picks. First baseman Tim Hobbs, who hit .325 with 22 RBIs as season ago, will attempt to walk-on at PSAC-power Kutztown.

Rams pitcher Jared Lydon will join coach Kevin Kime at Mount Aloysius College. Kime's roster already includes former Mid-Penn talents Dan Resavy (Trinity) and Chris Nolan (Central Dauphin). In addition, pitcher Justin Rohrer committed to PSU-Behrend in Erie. Paul Benim's Lions have won 13 of 16 heading into Tuesday's clash with Mount Union.

HS softball: CD's Bre Hopkins makes most of season's 1st at-bat as Rams top Chambersburg, 2-1

It might be a lot more fun to talk about a walk-off home run or a walk-off line drive ending a game, but a walk-off slow-roller from a player in her first at-bat of the season can be equally exciting.

Such was the softball situation at the beautiful – but cold and windy, too – Central Dauphin athletic complex on Monday during CD's 2-1 Commonwealth Division victory over Chambersburg.

Starkly different from the March 28 game in which Chambersburg beat CD 9-5, this was a well-played game in which throwing errors were involved in the first run for each team and speed was involved in the winning tally.

Tied at one apiece after the Trojans scored in the sixth, CD shortstop Halley Rose beat out an infield two-hopper for a base hit. Alli Kulp laid down a sacrifice bunt to push Rose to second and Renee Foster lined a shot to left to set up first-and-third with one out.

Chambersburg shortstop Mandy Bell held Rose at third while throwing out Katie Foran after fielding Foran's hard grounder.

That brought up Breana Hopkins, who was just medically cleared to play after recovering from a wrist injury.

Typically a slap hitter, CD coach Ken Williams didn't think the situation was right for that, so Hopkins received the signal to hit away. The left-hander pulled a routine grounder down the first base line. Chambersburg first baseman Kelsey Reath fielded the ball and tossed it to second baseman McKenzie Scalia.

But the ball, Scalia and Hopkins all got there at the same time and there was some incidental contact between the two players. When the dust cleared, the ball was on the ground and Rose was in the CD dugout with the winning run.

"We tell the girls we don't have to be perfect but just be one run better,'' Williams said. "Today we weren't perfect but we were one run better.''

CD (6-4) struck first in the fourth when Rosa Veliky doubled to left-center and scored on a throwing error when Mary Nell Smith put down a bunt.

CD's Amanda Homrighausen shut down the Trojans until the sixth when pitcher Alexis Shearer doubled. Tara Harman grounded to Katie Foran at third and Foran forced Shearer back to second but her throw pulled Macy Koontz off the bag at first. Shearer took off for third and Koontz's throw across the field skipped past Foran allowing Shearer to score the tying run.

"I gotta give credit to (Amanda),'' Williams said. "She pitched a heck of a game and gave up one earned run. She doesn't have a shutout yet in her career but she's getting close to it. "She pitched her best game of the year for us.''

The Trojans(8-3)  tried to rally in the seventh when Lindsay DeBross walked. She was thrown out at third when CD's Alexis Hess fielded Taylor Young's single, fired to Foster, who relayed a strike to Foran who applied a nice sweep tag on a sliding DeBross.

"Just the way we practice it,'' Williams said with a smile.

Chambersburg coach Ted Bittinger could only force a smile after the game. "Typical CD-Chambersburg game,'' he said. "To put the bat on the ball as many times as we did. We just weren't hitting with any oomph.''

Chambersburg's Shearer struck out eight and walked just two. "That's probably her best so far,'' Bittinger said about Shearer.

"It's frustrating when you don't hit the ball. We have to get back to pushing the runners across the plate.''

Kaelyn Ashway scored the winning run on a wild pitch. Kaitlin Eigenbrode swatted a three-run homer for Waynesboro.

HS Baseball Monday highlights: Commonwealth Division heating up after Red Land, Cumberland Valley and Chambersburg grab wins

COMMONWEALTH

Cumberland Valley 5, CD East 1: Matt Ober continued his strong campaign, hurling a three-hitter with four strikeouts. Shaugn Green's RBI single was Ober's lone blemish during an 85-pitch outing. Matt Davis (2-for-3) and Jordan Frazier (2-for-2) led the Eagles' O. Davis plated two runs and Mike Adams scored twice for CV.

Red Land 11, Carlisle 4: Shane Dressler turned on just about every pitch thrown his way Monday. Dressler went 5-for-5, scored three runs and pocketed four RBIs, which helped erase Carlisle's four-run first. Jeremy Hileman added three RBIs while Ben Snyder added three runs. Ryan Borowski's 2-for-4 day led Carlisle, held to six combined hits between starting pitcher Zach Newmyer and reliever Dalton Clouser.

Chambersburg 4, Central Dauphin 3: The Rams committed two errors, both coming in the bottom of the ninth to allow pinch runner Tyghe Bowers to post the game-winner. Jordan Romberger's two-run single helped CD forge a tie in the sixth. And minutes after Chambersburg reliever Jonathon Brown stopped a developing Rams threat in the ninth, Angelo Hronis was plunked to open the bottom half. An errant pick-off attempt put Bowers on second before Jesse Helman's fly-ball to right was misplayed, scoring Bowers. Trojans pitcher Hunter Brindle was perfect before CD got moving in the sixth. Chambersburg totaled nine hits, one each from the Trojans' starters.

State College 7, Cedar Cliff 3: Dan Fry, who struck out five, earned the win in relief. Fry and teammates Caleb Walls, Darian Herncane and Ryan Karstetter, each cracked a pair of hits for the Little Lions. Two hits by Brandyn Smith and RBIs from Kyle Wickenheiser and Joe Kidd wasn't enough for the Colts.

CAPITAL

Northern 11, Milton Hershey 1: Anthony Salomone popped three hits, good for two RBIs, and styled five sterling innings for the Polar Bears. Salomone scattered just three hits in the shortened affair and teammate Nate Deardorf chipped in two hits and scored a run.

TRI-VALLEY

Newport 1, Upper Dauphin 0: After Cole Bower roped a seventh-inning single, then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt, Caleb McNellie stole the show with a walk-off RBI single. Bower also pocketed the complete-game win, striking out seven and holding the Trojans to three hits. The victory landed in Buffs in sole possession of first place.

Halifax 15, Line Mountain 0: Halifax jumped all over Line Mountain with 10 runs in the bottom of the first. Hunter Hilinski supplied three RBIs, a number equaled by teammate Sam Cooke, who shared four hits. Hilinski only worked three frames, but shared an abbreviated one-hitter with Zach Schumber.

Juniata 14, Greenwood 12: Austin Berry cracked a three-run homer and Chantz Swartz netted three hits for Juniata, which ran across two seventh-inning runs to prevail. John Rubie added two hits behind game-winning reliever Dahkota Sweitzer. Greenwood's Noah Wright produced two of Greenwood's 12 hits.

Millersburg 14, Lancaster Country Day 1: The Tribe exploded for 12 hits, including two apiece by Austin Lehman and Ian Lloyd. The latter chased home a single run and saw mate Connor Keim plated another Millersburg run with a RBI double.

LANCASTER-LEBANON

Cedar Crest 15, Elizabethtown 1: Three big blows pushed the Falcons past host Elizabethtown. Mike Wealand supplied one, a three-run triple in Cedar Crest's six-run fourth. Josh Hammaker provided another, smashing a grand slam in Cedar Crest's eight-run fifth. Garrett Getz did the rest, collecting four RBIs to make pitcher Conor Bawiec's win an easy one.

Penn Manor 16, Lebanon 3: Powered by Cameron Dickerson's fifth-inning grand slam, the Comets ran away from Lebanon via 12 hits. Dickerson supplied four of them, good for a whopping six RBIs. Darien Ebersole chipped in two hits and two RBIs. Justin Henson was charged with just four hits and struck out five. Lebanon starter Brycen Loeper was tagged for nine earned runs.

Annville-Cleona 11, Northern Lebanon 1: Tanner Fitting stretched five innings, allowing four hits, and Daultyn Kline smashed three hits with two RBIs to hoist the Dutchmen. Mitch Rodkey and Justin Ulrich added two hits apiece. Fitting fanned five.

OTHERS

West Perry 5, Boiling Springs 2: The Bubblers threw a scare at unbeaten West Perry, grabbing a quick 1-0 lead and then stranding a pair of runners in the seventh. In the end, game-winner Ben Dum finished a five-hitter and got two hits behind him from catcher Brendan Hower. The Mustangs righted the ship with a four-run second. Colin Frownfelter's two hits paced Boiling Springs.

Camp Hill 4, James Buchanan 3: The Rockets were game but Robbie Thompson's two-run homer and two hits by Teddy Zanger was too much to overcome. Mark Leach chipped in two hits and drove in a run for Camp Hill, which saw James Buchanan square the match in the fifth.

Big Spring 4, Susquenita 3: Dylan Johnson's ninth-inning single chased home Mike Pifer with the game-winning run. Pifer gets a major assist for stroking a two-out single, then swiping second to set up Johnson's shot. Mark Sheriff went 3-for-4 and Johnny Swartz chipped in two RBIs for the Dogs. Brett Morrison collected three hits for Susquenita.

Shippensburg 8, Spring Grove 0: Righty Andrew Koser joined the Mid-Penn's no-hit hotlist Monday, tearing down the York County foe. Koser mustered just two strikeouts and survived a few hairy moments, like a pair of Greyhound errors, but two hits each by Ethan Gephart, Justin Pyne and Dustin LaBonte (three RBIs) made it easier. Koser walked one and hit one.

East Juniata 7, Bible Baptist 3: East Juniata took charge with five runs in the third frame. The rally helped Bailey Coder, who struck out seven, nail down the non-conference decision over Merritt Raup (2-for-3) and the Bobcats. Raup added two runs against the 6-1 Tigers.

Antietam 10, Harrisburg Christian 0: Ledwin Munez undercut the Knights from start to finish, rolling a one-hitter and striking out 12 in the five-inning decision. Nunez chipped in a pair of doubles, plating two runs, while Anthony Cortez and Cam Koller knocked in two runs apiece.

There is no shortage of running talent on the Cumberland Valley boys' track and field team this spring.

And while Alec Kunzweiler may catch the most attention on the leader boards, with his 1:54.23 in the 800-meter and a 4:21.03 in the 1600, Alex Coburn has put up equally impressive performances.

Coburn won the 800 at the Brace Dallas Inviational with a 1:56.33, and he won the 1600 at the Pan-Ram Invitational with a 4:22.72. He made a slight improvement in that 1600 time at the Shippensburg Invitational last Saturday to a 4:22.44.

Also at the Shippensburg Invitational, Coburn set a meet record in the 2000 steeplechase with a 6:07.16.

When did you get your start in track and field?
My freshman year, but I've been running six years for the cross country team. Ever since sixth grade, I've loved running. I was that kid in gym that wouldn't stop running.

What is it like running with, or against, other successful runners on your own team and other teams?
It just makes it a lot easier to run becuase you know those guys can hunt you down. It helps that you can have friendships with them and joke around before the meet.

What is the main key to improving your time throughout the year?
I'd just say, do what the coaches tell you. Listen to them in meets and practices, and they'll help you lower you time.

How important is it for you to visualize your race?
I don't try to think about the race before it happens. I just try to enjoy the experience with my teammates and then focus on my race.

What goes through your mind during the race?
I just try to focus, use my arms, stay focuses, breathe and stay calm. If you freak out about other runners passing you, you're going to fall farther back without noticing it.

What are your goals for this spring?
For myself, to make it to states and do a lot better there. Then, for the 4x800 team, to get another medal [at states]. To do it again with this this group again would be special.

It took about two weeks of regular season play for Hershey and Carlisle to establish themselves as the top two boys' lacrosse clubs in the Mid-Penn Conference.

While the league has struck a little more balance with State College, Trinity, Palmyra and Central Dauphin all having good seasons, the Trojans and the Thundering Herd have been a notch above everyone else.

The most anticipated matchup in the Mid-Penn will commence Thursday at 7 p.m. at Hershey High School. While it won't settle anything division wise - Hershey competes in the Keystone Division and Carlisle in the Commonwealth Division - Thursday's clash will give area lacrosse fans a early peek at the likely matchup for the conference title.

Carlisle (11-0, 9-0) holds a two-game lead in the loss column in the Commonwealth over Trinity and State College, while Hershey (12-1, 8-0) leads Central Dauphin by two games with a head-to-head win over the Rams to boot.

Steve Kidder's Herd, last season's runner-up in District 3, is three games into its brutal six-game stretch. Carlisle already picked up wins over second-place Trinity, defending District 3 champ Ephrata and Palmyra. After Thursday's game with Hershey, Carlisle still has Hempfield on Apr. 29 and State College on May 2.

Hershey, whose lone blemish came on Apr. 15 at Manheim Twp., still has a trip to State College on Apr. 30.

What are your thoughts on Thursday's Hershey-Carlisle boys' lacrosse matchup? While you think it over, here is a quick tale of the tape for Thursday's showdown.
