Tier I Bears Cup
Elizabethtown 5, CumberlandValley 3: Cassidy Galeone, who missed E-Town’s last game with a separated shoulder, recorded a hat trick as the Bears stunned CV at Twin Ponds West to advance and eliminate the Tier I regular season champs. While Galeone provided the bulk of the offense with help from linemates Brady Dolan and Tyler Christian, it was J.T. Drescher who snapped a 3-all tie late in the third with a power play goal to give E-Town the lead for good with 2:26 left. The Bears will play Dallastown in the elimination bracket final Monday night at York City Ice Arena for the right to face Hershey for the Bears Cup. Tristan Enck, Jaryd Pietro and Patrick Halpert scored for the Eagles.
Tier II Viola Cup
Penn Manor 3, Manheim Twp. 1: At Lancaster Ice Rink, Matt Gue scored two goals and Cory Cummings one as the Comets clinched a berth in the Viola Cup title game by beating the Blue Streaks. Owen Finfrock came up big in net for Penn Manor by stopping 18 of the 19 shots he faced. The Comets carried a 2-0 lead into the third period before Eric Stager cut it in half for the Streaks on his unassisted tally. But Gue’s second of the game, short-handed, gave the Comets late insurance. Brandon Davis made 18 saves on 20 shots for Manheim Twp. The Streaks will play Red Land in the elimination bracket final Monday night back in Lancaster for the right to face Penn Manor for the Viola Cup.
