LANCASTER - A third L-L League football player will participate in the Big 33 Game, set for June 15 at 7 p.m. in Hersheypark Stadium.

Manheim Township senior wideout Tyler Karpinski, the reigning L-L League Section 1 Wide Receiver of the Year and a Temple recruit, was added to the roster on Monday when Scranton's Karlon Quiller had to back out of the game.

"It's a great time for Manheim Township," Blue Streaks' coach Mark Evans said. "And it's another feather in Tyler's cap."

Karpinski, who played in the Chesapeake Bowl after the season in December, caught 74 passes for 1,151 yards - 15.6 per grab - and he had eight touchdown receptions for the Streaks, who went 7-4 and advanced to the District 3-AAAA playoffs.

He also averaged 25.6 yards per punt return, 36.2 yards per kick return, and he returned two punts and two kicks for touchdowns.

Karpinski, a 5-10, 165-pounder, received a Mini Max Award from the Maxwell Club for his accomplishments.

He was selected to play in the East-West All-Star Game, but will now play in the Big 33 instead.

Karpinski will join McCaskey defensive back Aaron Swinton, a William & Mary recruit, and Wilson defensive end Junior Joseph, a UConn recruit, on Pennsylvania's roster.

He's the second Manheim Township player to earn Big 33 honors, and Karpniski's dad, Jed, played in the Big 33 in 1979, representing Mount Carmel.

Karpinski will join Clairton's Tyler Boyd, Downingtown East's Jay Harris and Bishop McDevitt's Brian Lemelle in Pennsylvania's receiving unit.

Pennsylvania will be coached by North Allegheny's Art Walker.
