Steve Naticchia resigned as head coach of the Big Spring boys basketball team Monday evening following the team banquet.
Naticchia had been the Bulldogs' head coach for the past three seasons and was on the staff in Newville for six.
The Bulldogs went 6-16 this season.
Naticchia, 62, said "it was time for me to move on."
"We had some great kids to work with and it was a fun three years," Naticchia said. "The administration treated me fairly."
Naticchia didn't rule out a return to the sidelines, but said it would be in a different capacity if the opportunity presented itself.
"I don't know if I want to be a head coach again," he said. "I wouldn't mind helping somebody out in some capacity. But being a head coach is pretty demanding and I'm ready to be an assistant or something of that nature."
Big Spring posted the position on Wednesday.
