Harrisburg knocks out Upper Darby in the PIAA Class AAAA tournament; Lower Merion is up next

Jerell Patterson and Steve Stoney led Harrisburg to a 79-62 victory over Upper Darby. The Cougars will move on to dual Lower Merion in the quarterfinals of the PIAA Class AAAA boys' basketball tournament.

Patterson knocked down two deep 3s from the top in the first half, and Stoney had back to back buckets in transition to push Upper Darby to a timeout with 6:07 left in the half and Harrisburg leading 25-14.

Upper Darby came out with a press break and scored three layups in a row with 5:30 left in the third and Harrisburg clinging to a 44-39 lead.

Fisher hit a three ball to close the gap to 46-42 before a Stoney lay-up pushed the lead back up to 51-42.

Sheppard and Jahaad Proctor led the charge in the beginning of the fourth quarter to give Harrisburg a 65-54 lead with five minutes left in the game. After a Kirk Smallwood timeout the put the ball in his guards' hands, he went with a four-corners offense with less then three minutes to go and a double digit lead.

The Cougars move on to meet Lower Merion Saturday. The time and location are TBA.
