LANCASTER - Emily Martin, a key cog for Lancaster Catholic's girls' basketball team the last four years, and a PennLive.com L-L League Section 4 First-Team All-Star pick, is staying close to home to play college ball.
The Crusaders' rebounding/shot-blocking specialist has verbally committed to Elizabethtown College, where she'll play for Sherri Gorman, who recently wrapped up her first year on the job with the Jays.
Gorman is Lancaster Mennonite's former girls' basketball coach. She guided Elizabethtown to an 11-7 record in the Commonwealth Conference and to a 15-11 overall mark this past season.
"I'm pumped to be a Blue Jay," Martin said, confirming that she will be heading to Elizabethtown College.
She also considered the University of Scranton.
L-L LEAGUE SECTION 4 GIRLS' BASKETBALL ALL-STARS
Martin averaged 10.3 points per game this season for Lancaster Catholic, which went 30-2 overall and won the Section 4 title and the school's 11th L-L League championship.
She also led the Crusaders in rebounds and blocked shots.
Martin overcame a pair of ACL knee injuries earlier in her career to put together a standout run with Lancaster Catholic.
