Consistent performances all around Chapman Field allowed Coatesville to earn the boys' team title at the Bruce Dallas Track and Field Invitational at Cumberland Valley High School Saturday afternoon.
Coatesville finished with 92.5 team points, while second-place Cumberland Valley had 75 team points.
Both Coatesville and Cumberland Valley had three gold medalists and three silver medalists. However, Coatesville had six third-place finishes, while the Eagles had two.
Winners for Coatesville included Shaquille Thomas, William Royal and Elizae McDonald. Thomas won the 100-meter dash in 11.16, Royal took the triple jump with a 44-2, and McDonald won the high jump with a 6-4.
It was still a very successful day for Cumberland Valley though. Not only did the Eagles win three golds, but two of them represented meet records.
Alex Coburn won the 800 in a new standard time of 1:56.33. He was third after the first lap behind teammate Alex Kunzweiler and Upper Merion's Christian Sanders before sprinting away in the second lap.
“I don't know what made me go, but when I hit the 500 mark, something told me to sprint,” Coburn said.

Coburn was also a part of the other meet record that Cumberland Valley set. He teamed up with Brady Miller, Scott St. Peter and Kunzweiler to post a 7:58.26.
“We mostly wanted to get under 8:00,” Coburn said. “Mostly get four nice legs to help us later in the season.”
The Eagles also won the 4x100 relay in 43.84. Conner Long, Chris Craig, Nathan Bailey Devon Walker comprised that team.
Placing second for Cumberland Valley was Quinn Wasko, who had a 10:01.65 in the 1600, and the 4x400 relay team, which had a 3:27.86.

Lower Dauphin dominated the distance events. Cole Nissley won the 3200 by about half a lap n 9:37.88. He planned on getting a big lead early.
“I just told myself I'd run the first mile in 4:45,” Nissley said. “I missed it by two seconds but felt good.”
Another Falcon, Jeff Groh, won the 1600 in 4:21.28.

The only other midstate athlete to win a gold medal was Trinity's Danny Jackson, who won the long jump with a 22-5 3/4.
Two athletes won two gold medals by setting two meet records.
Jim Brooks of Wilson set new marks in the 200 and 400 with 22.09 and 48.17, respectively.
Meanwhile, Jay Stone of Central York swept the hurdles with record-setting times of 14.56 in the 110 and 38.58 in the 300.
Schuylkill Valley had a strong showing in the throwing events. Evan Arnott won the discus with a 181-1, and came in second behind teammate Jason Coon in the shot. Coon had a 56-10 and Arnott had a 55-6.
