Northern Lebanon boys make an early statement
Last Thursday, the tail-end of winter weather was still in the air, but it was not too early for the Northern Lebanon boys' track and field team to show that it can make some noise this spring. The Vikings defeated defending Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 3 champion Annville-Cleona 76-74. Among the heroes for Northern Lebanon was Joe Vedillago. He won the 100-meter dash (10.6), the 200 (22.3) and 400 (49.7). He was also part of the winning 4x100 relay team, which posted a 45.8.

Records falling everywhere
Local athletes are wasting no time rewriting record books this fall. Last Tuesday, Palmyra's Tim Moses set a new stadium record at Hershey with a 16-0 pole vault. Two days later, Northern's Kennedy Shank set a new stadium record in the girls' pole vault with an 11-3. But it is not just vaulters who are in on the record action. Josh Logan set a new school record in the 200 on Tuesday with a 22.6. Meanwhile, there were six boys' records broken at the Bruce Dallas Invitational on Saturday. Also, Cumberland Valley's Rachael DeCecco set a new school record in the long jump, also at the Bruce Dallas Invitational.

Looking ahead...
Coming up on Saturday is the next off the big local invitationals, the 25th Annual Pan-Ram Meet at Central Dauphin's Landis Field. Field events will start at 8:30 a.m. and track events will begin at 9 a.m.
