District 3 tennis singles brackets released: Eight Mid-Penn Conference players in field

The brackets for the District 3 singles tennis tournament at Hershey Racquet Club this weekend were released late Wednesday.

The Mid-Penn Conference placed five players in the AAA field and three in AA, including Boiling Springs' P.J. Greenbaum, whose school does not field a team.

No MPC players are seeded. Top seeds went to Derek Hagino of Hempfield in AAA and Ricardo Saad of Wyomissing in AA.

Ben Kunkel, Red Land*

Elbert Mets, Hershey

Ethan Lynn, Cumberland Valley

Josh Ringquist, Mechanicsburg

Peter Landis, Red Land

 

Mid-Penn AA players in districts

Paxton Fitzpatrick, Camp Hill*

P.J. Greenbaum, Boiling Springs

Garrett Malanka, James Buchanan

 

*Kunkel won his second straight Mid-Penn AAA singles title Wednesday over Mets.

*Fitzpatrick also repeated, as AA champ, with a victory Tuesday over Malanka.

 

District 3 team tennis gets underway Thursday with the AAA bracket. A whopper off the bat features Cumberland Valley, the top team in the AAA power rankings, taking on the rival No. 8 Hershey Trojans in their backyard, at noon.

The AA team tennis field starts play Friday, featuring No. 3 Camp Hill and eighth-ranked James Buchanan.

All singles play begins Saturday.
