Halifax edged rival Upper Dauphin 7-5 Thursday night in Tri-Valley League softball action. The game was a special 'Pink Out' contest in which both squads wore pink-tinged uniforms for breast cancer awareness (see photo).

The Wildcats' Morgan Cox went 2 for 4 with four RBI, a stolen base and threw out two runners on stolen base attempts to second base. Paige Miller was 1 for 3 with two runs scored and an amazing game ending catch and double play behind first base.

Although Halifax started slow committing five errors in the first two innings and giving up four unearned runs, a key double to start the fifth by Brooke Crowell got the Wildcats rolling and back in the game.  Paige Miller followed with a single to centerfield but Crowell got thrown out at third.  Amber Coppula singled and Chelsea Walker then scored Miller on an error at third base, Morgan Cox laid down a perfect bunt with two strikes to score Coppula and Walker.  Konyar then scored Cox on another Upper Dauphin error.

Halifax took the lead in the 6th when Crowell reached first on an error, moved to second on a fielder’s choice by Coppula and scored on a single to right field by Walker.  The Wildcats added an insurance run when Walker scored on another bunt by Cox.
