One team that will be waiting for this week's final District 3 girls' lacrosse power rankings with bated breath is Cedar Crest.

With a record of 11-7 heading into Wednesday's Lancaster-Lebanon League semifinal with Manheim Twp., the Falcons are trying to hold onto the 16th and final District 3 playoff spot.

CD East, however, is nipping at their heels and strengthened its own cause after Tuesday's 11-6 win over Palmyra, which raised the Panthers' record to 10-5. Cedar Crest, meanwhile, suffered a heartbreaking 20-19 overtime loss to Lower Dauphin.

The fact that Crest is even in this position is pretty remarkable considering that the program produced just 10 wins in the previous three seasons combined.

"This was a pivotal year for the Cedar Crest girls' lacrosse program, having smashed last year's record, finishing second in Section II, making league and possibly districts," Crest coach Emma Lebo said.

"I attribute the success to the continued dedication and experience from the eight seniors, along with the athleticism and intensity that the underclassman brought to the season."
