Central Dauphin's Katie Foran will play at Temple in 2013 - (Dan Gleiter, The Patriot-News)

THE DETAILS: After considering the likes of Rutgers, Monmouth and LaSalle, Central Dauphin senior forward Katie Foran found the perfect fit in Temple -- a familiar team because it’s home to former Ram Amber Youtz.

“The coaches were really enthusiastic about me coming to Temple, and it was close to home,” Foran said. “I didn’t want to be that far away. They have really good academic support, and all the girls were so nice and welcoming.”

Foran wanted a bigger school, and Temple’s city campus appealed to her. That played into her decision too.

PROJECTED MAJOR: Elementary education.

THEY’RE SAYING: “Katie is a great competitor,” said Central Dauphin coach Janelle Burger. “She has the desire to want to be the best, and she will not settle for anything less. When the game is on the line, you want the ball on her stick.”

“Katie’s athleticism and speed will make her a force to reckon with in college,” said Key State field hockey club coach Jody Angelini. “She blows by her opponents with ease, carrying the ball on the right oustside of the field, and drives the ball quickly to the center of the cage to her teammates for the perfect goal.”
