"Cumberland Valley" does not appear very often in the list of event winners in the girls' Mid-Penn Track and Field Meet, held Saturday at Chambersburg.
However, "Cumberland Valley" does appear at the top of the team standings.
The Eagles won just one event, but accumulated 74 team points to win the team title.
Cumberland Valley's lone win was Mady Clahane's victory in the 1600. She posted a 5:05.20.
The freshman was in the middle of the pack early in the race before she broke loose to lead for the last 1000 meters.
"I felt pretty good," Clahane said. "I got trapped early and had to get out."
Clahane also had Cumberland Valley's only second place of the meet, recording a 2:19.02 in the 800.
But the Eagles had six third-places, helping distance them from Chambersburg and Cedar Cliff. Chambersburg was second with 63.5 points, and Cedar Cliff was third with 58.5 points.
"I think it's really important to us to win this meet," Clahane said. "That's really what my motivation is today."
