Longtime starter Kaleb Reitz helped Halifax win the Tri-Valley League baseball title and earn a spot in the District 3-AA postseason. On Friday, Reitz was named the TVL's most valuable player, right alongside league's coach of the year, Halifax skipper Rick Ansel.
In league play, Reitz topped a handful of categories including runs (25) and total bases (36). His .535 average, 21 RBIs and .636 on-base percentage ranked second. Reitz also recorded five league wins on the mound, collected 35 strikeouts in 35 innings.
The Wildcats (15-5), which lost to Kutztown on Monday in the 3-AA quarterfinals, won their first outright TVL title, finishing one-game clear of Upper Dauphin and East Juniata.
