J.D. Hughes, one of the state’s top golfers, opened his season with a 66 for Carlisle, but Cumberland Valley (12-0) stayed perfect in the Mid-Penn’s Commonwealth Division by taking the No. 2 through 5 individual spots and scoring 380 Monday at Armitage.

vercash also broke 70, finishing with a 69 to finish second overall. Teammates Mike Hoare (74), Tyler Derr (76) and Milo Nagle (78) followed. Mechanicsburg’s Brendan Shay finally broke up the Eagles’ pack with a 78. Teammate Evan Brosious shot 79, helping Mechanicsburg (10-2) to take second in team scoring at 408.
Carlisle (4-8) was third, at 437, making great use of Hughes’ score and aided by Zach Loudon, who was tied for 12th in a group at 83.
Red Land (4-8) took sixth with a 443, behind the scoring of Tyler Zeiders (79) and Matt Woodworth (81).
