Back-door cuts: With all-state guard Antonelli as well as remarkably mobile bigs Kuntz and Trumpy still on hand, Kostelac’s outfit has three potential Division I athletes who will keep Trinity in the middle of things at several levels — despite the losses of sharp-shooting guards Brad Wesner, Dylan DeFrank and Jay Agnew to graduation. While there’s a number of backcourt candidates available, pinpointing an effective guard combination/rotation to work alongside Antonelli was one of Kostelac’s main priorities when preseason practice began. If promising youngster Gilbertson is effective — he’s a slasher with a good handle and dependable jump shot — he could eat up more and more minutes as the season unfolds. If things go as expected, Kostelac has a quality side that could be playing well into March.
Projected order of finish: 3rd of 9.
