Steel-High was looking to make a return trip to the PIAA Class A championship game for the first time since 2008 when the Rollers completed a run of back-to-back state titles.
Powerful District 2 champion Old Forge stood in the way, as the Blue Devils were looking to make a little history of their own Saturday in Hazleton.
The District 3 champion Rollers’ defense kept head coach Tom Hailey’s squad in the hunt for a long time. But two late scores by Old Forge secured a 26-7 PIAA Class A semifinal victory.
Here’s a recap of the Rollers (12-2) final game of the season against the Blue Devils, including stories, photographs and video.
