Tickets for the PIAA Class AAA football championship game between Bishop McDevitt and Archbishop Wood will be on sale at Bishop McDevitt High School Tuesday through Thursday during business hours, the school announced this morning. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for students.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday at Hersheypark Stadium. The game is part of a championship doubleheader and follows a 1 p.m. game between Old Forge and North Cathloic for the PIAA Class A title.
Saturday's schedule at Hersheypark Stadium features the Class AA championship between Imhotep Charter and South Fayette (noon) and the Class AAAA championship between Pittsburgh Central Catholic and St. Joseph's Prep.
The Crusaders advanced to Friday's championship game in thrilling fashion, overcoming an 18-point halftime deficit to beat defending state champion Erie Cathedral Prep, 47-42, in the semifinals. Andre Robinson led the way for McDevitt with 372 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns as the Crusaders handed the Ramblers their first loss of the season.
The Vikings advanced to the championship round with a 42-14 win over Berwick. They represent another rematch for McDevitt after winning the 2011 state title with a 52-0 victory over the Crusaders.
