If you look up “consummate point guard” in the Mid-Penn girls’ basketball dictionary, there’s very likely a picture of Trinity senior Briana Betz-White smiling back at you.
The Shamrocks’ sparkplug 5-5 floor general knows how to direct traffic.
She can shoot the rock, too. And penetrate and kick. And play in-your-face defense from end line to end line.
She’ll even sky for rebounds over unsuspecting post players if you’re not paying attention.
She is seemingly everywhere on a basketball court, and she uses her speed game, court awareness and vision to be in all the right places.
Through 12 games this season, Betz-White is Trinity’s top scorer, averaging 14.8 points a night with 10 3-pointers.
But this is all you need to know about her and how seriously she takes playing her position:
When asked what her favorite part of the game is, Betz-White talked about sharing the ball, dishing off assists and making her teammates better.
That’s a team leader. That’s a wily vet point guard.
And that’s Betz-White, who has had a standout career wearing a Shamrocks’ uniform.
She parlayed that success into an athletic scholarship; Betz-White has signed on to play for Division I Loyola (Md.).
She’ll spend the rest of this season trying to get Trinity over the hump and into the postseason.
On Monday, Betz-White and Sydney Kockler scored 11 points apiece in the Shamrocks’ 47-43 Mid-Penn Keystone come-from-behind win at Red Land, as Trinity improved to 5-3 in the division and to 6-6 overall.

The Shamrocks hit the week at No. 17 in the District 3-AAA power rankings — in the bracket, but there’s a long way to go.
Betz-White is also closing in on a milestone; including the 11 points she scored Monday vs. Red Land, she’s up to 840 career points for the Shamrocks.
