Just four PennLive girls’ basketball state-ranked teams were in action on Thursday night, and two of them squared off against each other.
In a District 3-AAAA third-place game, No. 4 Cumberland Valley bumped off No. 7 Manheim Township 64-52, as both teams now prep for the PIAA playoffs, which begin a week from Friday.
Also Thursday, York Catholic won its staggering ninth District 3-AA championship in a row, compliments of a 50-40 win over archrival and honorable mention pick Delone Catholic.
It’s the fourth year in a row those two have hooked up for District 3 honors, and York Catholic has won all of them — and, amazingly, the five titles before that.
And in Class AAA, No. 7 Bonner-Prendergast wrapped up the third seed from District 12 with a 72-51 win over Freire Charter.
