Yet another midstate girls’ basketball player joined the 1,000-career-point-club over the weekend.

Juniata junior Victoria Varner, who calls the Tri-Valley League home, hit the milestone on Saturday night in the first quarter during the Indians’ District 6-AA championship game against Bellwood-Antis.

Varner needed just 2 points coming in, and she corralled those on a jumper from the right wing in the first quarter.

Bellwood-Antis won the game 59-17 and Varner and scored 5 points in all, giving her 1,003 in her career — with at least one PIAA playoff game to play plus her entire senior season next winter.

Juniata is coming off its second Tri-Valley League championship in a row — both with 16-0 records.

Varner was a Tri-Valley League all-star pick this past regular season, after leading the TVL with 17.6 points and 49 3-pointers in league games.
