The University of Delaware offered South Williamsport running back Dominick Bragalone a scholarship on Tuesday.
Bragalone was visiting with his head coach Chris Eiswerth when Blue Hens tight ends coach Eddie Allen extended the offer, the running back's first. The PIAA-A Player of the Year was asked to sign before he left, but declined. He plans to visit at least two other schools this summer and said he won't make a final decision until after his senior season.
He will travel with Eiswerth to make his second visit to Syracuse for a camp on Tuesday.
"I went to Syracuse last year for just a camp and I was only in the football indoor facility [Manley Field House] and it was really nice, " Bragalone said, "so I'm hoping to go back up there, maybe see some more."
The 5-foot-10, 210-pound rising senior has also received interest from Army, Bucknell, Coastal Carolina, Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple and Penn State. Though Bragalone hasn't heard from Penn State running backs coach Charles Huff since December, he said.
Bragalone still plans to attend a Penn State camp in late July, though as of Wednesday afternoon he hadn't registered yet, he said.
At the Rutgers camp on June 6, Bragalone ran a laser-timed 40-yard dash that Scarlet Knights assistant head coach and running backs coach Norries Wilson told him was clocked at 4.46 seconds, Bragalone said.
Delaware initially offered Bragalone on June 11, but formally received the offer in person Tuesday, Eiswerth said. The Blue Hens took interest in Bragalone because the Delaware coaches said they need a breakaway speed threat, Eiswerth said. Bragalone maxed out his bench press at 425 pounds
"They have couple guys at the present time that are in the 4.5-4.6 range," Eiswerth said, "and they're looking for a home-run hitter."
The running back said he hopes to hear more from Southern schools as he would like to play in warmer weather. He also said he doesn't plan on attending a Temple camp this summer as he doesn't see himself at the school.
Said Bragalone: "I don't mind the snow, but it'd be nice to play somewhere warm."
