With L-L League football Media Day set for Aug. 5, and with pigskin camps set to open on Aug. 11, PennLive presents 12 players to watch for the upcoming season.
The players are listed in no particular order, and we'll release one a day over the next 12 days.
Here’s No. 3: Lancaster Catholic senior Keegan Sheedy.
POSITION: Offensive tackle/defensive end
2013 STATS/HONORS: Sheedy was a dual L-L League Section 1 all-star last fall, earning first-team honors at offensive tackle, and picking up an honorable mention nod at defensive tackle for the Crusaders, who went 5-2 in Section 1 and 6-6 overall after losing to Cocalico in the District 3-AAA quarterfinals. … Sheedy was part of an offensive line that helped Lancaster Catholic gouge out 308.4 yards and 26.5 points per game in its final season in Section 1 before coming down to Section 2 in 2014.
VILLANOVA-BOUND: Sheedy has issued a verbal commitment to Villanova.
NOTABLE: While he’ll stick and stay at o-tackle this fall, Sheedy will shift from d-tackle to d-end for the Crusaders this coming season.

WHAT TO EXPECT: A lot of eyeballs on Sheedy in the trenches this fall, what with his FCS declaration out there. Plus, he’ll be blocking for a new QB — Evan Purvis, the last of the athletically gifted brothers to come through Lancaster Catholic — graduated. Sheedy will get major help from Section 1 first-team all-star OG Skylar Bender and C Noah Thomas. But he’ll likely draw some double teams, and he’ll have to contend with speedy, blitzing linebackers shooting the gaps. Sheedy has the skills — and the might — to handle it.
