With L-L League football Media Day set for Aug. 5, and with pigskin camps set to open on Aug. 11, PennLive presents 12 players to watch for the upcoming season.
The players are listed in no particular order, and we’ll release one a day for the next 12 days.
Here’s No. 6: Cedar Crest junior Evan Horn.
POSITION: Wide receiver/defensive back
2013 STATS/HONORS: Horn hauled in a team-leading 24 catches for a team-best 390 yards — a fine 16.3 yards per catch average — and he had a pair of TD grabs on offense for the Falcons, who went 3-7, but cranked out 322.3 yards 25 points per game, keeping opposing defenses on their toes. … Honors galore for Horn, a three-sport standout (hoops, track and field) who really made a name for himself around the L-L in his first two seasons on courts and fields around the region: He was named Section 1 Defensive Back of the Year, and he was a first-team selection at wideout and defensive back for the Falcons, who will feature a new coach, Rob Wildasin, this season. … Cedar Crest often gets knocked for its defense; with Horn on the flanks, the Falcons are certainly covered in that area.
Final 2013 L-L League football stats
NOTABLE: Horn was a PennLive Big 15 all-star basketball selection this past winter.
WHAT TO EXPECT: With this kid, the sky seems to be the limit. No matter what he picks up — a football, a basketball, a javelin — he excels. And with two breakout years now under his belt, and with two more to go, Horn is only going to get better. Which is ultra exciting for Cedar Crest fans. Special, special athlete here, gang. Enjoy him while here’s here doing special things in south Lebanon.
