Here's our new-look District 3-AA girls' basketball rankings for the 2012-13 season. Records through Jan. 6. Rankings are independent of D3 power ratings used for seeding purposes.

1. Delone Catholic (9-2) – We can hear the grumblings now, but the Squires can put all that noise to sleep this week when they entertain the next prized program below. Gerry Eckenrode's crew has been running red-hot, too.

2. York Catholic (7-1) – Because the Irish are usually sound on defense and because the Irish are the most decorated program in this bunker. And because the Irish have yet to play their best basketball.

3. Oley Valley (8-3) – The rode has been a little bumpy for the Lynx lately, but Brandi Vallely and her Oley Valley running mates still popped off six straight to open the season and are capable of more.

4. Camp Hill (8-3) – We're thinking those rough-and-tumble scrapes with Mid-Penn Capital foes Steel-High and West Perry will help the Lions prepare for district play.

5. Biglerville (6-3) – Already gave No. 1 Delone Catholic a bit of a tussle in mid December. Still, we're a tad worried about that most recent loss, especially with York Catholic on this week's to-do list.

CLOSING IN

Annville-Cleona (6-4)

Brandywine Heights (5-5)

Hanover (5-3)
