West Perry's 5th annual chuck-a-duck game is this Friday, and as always, the Mustangs host their rival, the Black Hawks of Susquenita. Susquenita is coming into this game with a 10 loss sized chip on their shoulder. The Black Hawks currently stand at 3-10 and 0-7 in the division including a 56-35 loss Wednesday night to Middletown. That's not to say Susquenita isn't a threat. If you go to the game and you see a Black Hawks player taking up most of the paint, it's most likely their big 6' 4" Forward, Drew Knowles. Knowles has been, among other things, dominant this season. He's got more total points than any one West Perry player, with 164. As far as an outside game, look for Guard, Brandon Parson to be taking those shots. He's got 93 points this year, including 12 three balls. As a team, however, Susquenita has struggled with long shots, hitting only 26 from beyond the arc. The Black Hawks are also making just over 50% of their shots from the line. West Perry has been impressive recently, winning 3 out of their last 4 games and improving their record to 5-8 and 3-4 in the division, including a 41-36 win against James Buchanan on Wednesday. Three seniors, in particular, have been the driving force for the Mustangs recently. Starting with the big guy, 6' 3" Terek Weaver. Weaver has been solid for the duration of the season. He's put up a team high, 150 points including 4 3-pointers. He's also been making about 69% of his free throws, and don't be surprised to see him do better in this big game. The game winner, Guard, Ryan McMillen has been playing extremely well recently. His game winning floater against East Pennsboro has fans wondering why he's going to Shippensburg to play Baseball. McMillen has 121 points on the season, including 19 from behind the key. One piece of advice I would give to Susquenita is don't foul the other senior guard, Sheldon Diemler. He's shooting at about 70% on free throws which is among the best in the team. Diemler's also got 134 points on the season. As a team, don't look for the Mustangs to wow you with cutters into the paint creating opportunities for lay-ups and dunks. West Perry is predominantly a perimeter based team, but will take the short shots of they're there. They've got 52 buckets from 3 point range and make about 63% of their free throws. When it's all said and done, and the game clock reads 0.0, I think the Mustangs will pick up their 6th win of the season. I'm expecting a great game and I'm especially looking forward to the match up between the two big guys.
