NO. 7 CAN'T TRIP NO. 4: With both sides ranked inside MaxPreps' Top 10 in the state, Cumberland Valley misfired on three chances to square a non-conference tilt with fourth-ranked Mt. Lebanon, dropping a 42-40 decision.

Maddie Torresin steered the Eagles with 22 points and Taylor Sneidman added 12 as CV watched an early 17-9 cushion disappear. The seventh-ranked Eagles (15-4) were a slight 2 of 7 from the charity stripe and leading-scorer Jackie Falconer was held scoreless. Dori Oldaker's Blue Devils improved to 16-2 overall.

VIEW: Saturday's box scores

TOUGH STRETCH FOR TRIBE: Dover, York County's last remaining unbeaten, used a nifty 16-1 sprint in the opening stanza to turn back host Susquehanna Twp. 55-35 Saturday.

The Indians were strolling right along before the Eagles erupted behind Alayah Hall's game-high 17 points. Joya Maser led the Indians with 10 points. Julie Denniston's crew has now lost four straight and are staring at battles with Mid-Penn Keystone higher-ups Palmyra, Mechanicsburg and Trinity to close.

ONE EYE ON GOLDEN TIGERS: A certain Mid-Penn Commonwealth entry discovered how lethal the Hollidaysburg combination of Morgan Griffith and Susie Ellis can be. Griffith poured in 20 points Saturday, and Ellis netted 18, as the Golden Tigers (14-1) ripped Mifflin County 85-43 in Lewistown.

Ellis knocked down four of the Tigers' 10 3-pointers on the evening. Olivia Halfpenny's 14 points led Mifflin County. So far, only highly-regarded Seton-LaSalle has solved the Tigers' riddle, claiming a 60-51 tussle on Jan. 12.

STREAKS & SUBPLOTS: For the 17th time in 18 games, CD East guard CaLee Gelbaugh stretched into double figures. Gelbaugh popped in 18 points and Brittany Robinson added 12 as the Panthers sacked host New Oxford 49-33. …

Waynesboro's losing streak hit 24 games Saturday as East Pennsboro grabbed a 64-12 Mid-Penn crossover decision. Kailee Yoder (12 points) led three Panthers in double figures. The Tribe last tasted victory exactly one year ago, dropping Northern 49-46. …

Palmyra made it 19 for 19 this season after dispatching Keystone rival Lower Dauphin 45-25 in Hummelstown. Carly Richardson's 14 points and five Palmyra treys in all did the trick.

TRI-VALLEY CHASERS: It's still Juniata's title to give away, but Halifax (10-8, 9-3) and Newport (11-5, 9-3) both remained 2½ games behind the Tri-Valley frontrunner with victories Saturday.

Halifax got 18 points from Morgan Cox and 10 from Brianna Custer to bounce neighbor Millersburg 62-45. Madison Engle posted 19 points in the loss. At Newport, the Buffs converted 23 of 35 from the line in a 39-24 triumph over Greenwood. Darien Holley led the charge with 18 points. Juniata (15-1, 11-0) will battle both challengers in the next two weeks.
