L-L League boys' basketball notes.

LANCASTER - L-L League boys' basketball notables, including a look at the section races and the upcoming schedule.

SECTION 1: WHAT WE KNOW
* McCaskey (13-0, 17-2) has won 17 games in a row, including an intriguing non-league victory over Philadelphia Electrical Charter on Saturday in Reading. The Red Tornado has clinched the Section 1 championship, and will go for back-to-back league playoff titles in two weeks. Caution: Tornado is hot.

* A 3-way logjam tie for second place behind McCaskey, featuring Cedar Crest (8-5, 12-7), Manheim Township (8-5, 10-8) and Warwick (8-5, 10-9). Even Hempfield (7-6, 10-8) is still in it. Hottest team of that bunch is Cedar Crest, which has won seven in a row. Best thing to do here is let them play it out and check the standings. Sensing a tie for second, which would be broken by criteria.

* McCaskey finishes up at home vs. Manheim Township, at Cedar Crest and at home vs. Hempfield.

* Cedar Crest finishes up at Warwick, at home vs. McCaskey and at Penn Manor.

* Manheim Township finishes up at McCaskey, at Hempfield and at home vs. Warwick. Hmmm.

* Warwick finishes up at home vs. Cedar Crest, at home vs. Penn Manor and at Manheim Township.

Enjoy.

SECTION 2: WHAT WE KNOW
* Elizabethtown (11-2, 13-5) has clinched the outright title for the second season in a row, and the Bears will look for a hot finish to gain momentum for the postseason.

* Cocalico (6-7, 9-9) and Lebanon (6-7, 9-9) are battling it out for second place - and for District 3 playoff spots. Cocalico beat Lebanon 52-47 on January 4 in their first meeting. Cocalico is at Lebanon on Tuesday - circle that one; it could decide second place and the league playoff spot. But still a long way to go.

SECTION 3: WHAT WE KNOW
* Donegal (13-0, 19-0) is the lone undefeated boys' team in the L-L League, and clinched the section crown outright.

* Good battle for second place between Northern Lebanon (9-4, 14-5) and Lampeter-Strasburg (9-4, 12-7), who hit the week deadlocked for that spot. The Pioneers and the Vikings are due to clash on the last night of league play on February 5 in Fredericksburg. Northern Lebanon won the first meeting 65-58 in Lampeter on January 9. Manheim Central (7-6, 11-6) needs wins and help to get back in the fight for the 2-spot.

* Donegal finishes up at home vs. Garden Spot, at home vs. Northern Lebanon and at home vs. Elco (3 home games).

* Northern Lebanon finishes up at Elco, at Donegal and at home vs. L-S.

* L-S finishes up at home vs. Manheim Central (and can knock the Barons out with a win), at home vs. Garden Spot and at Northern Lebanon.

SECTION 4: WHAT WE KNOW
* Lancaster Catholic (10-3, 13-5) leads Lancaster Mennonite (9-4, 13-6) by a game, and the Crusaders host the Blazers on the last night of league play on February 5.

* Lebanon Catholic (7-6, 13-6) split its season series with Lancaster Catholic and Lancaster Mennonite. Beavers need wins and help to claw back into the top two - and set up a tiebreaker.
