The historic moment came with 1:54 remaining in the first quarter, a hard leaner down the lane that landed Steel-High phenom Malia Tate-DeFreitas in rare company.
Now the ninth Pennsylvania product to reach 3,000 career points, the Hampton-bound guard stretched for 37 points and 12 rebounds Friday in Steel-High's 69-49 victory at East Pennsboro.

Tate-DeFreitas netted 15 of her total in the first period as Steel-High popped ahead 23-13 and stayed in attack mode throughout. Teammates Amber Hess-Moore and Ceani Beaden, a terror around the tin all night, chipped in 10 points apiece.
“I just wanted to get my 3,000 points over with,” said Tate-DeFreitas. “It was a good feeling, but it just felt like my 1,000th and 2,000th, no different.”
Tate-DeFreitas now shares 8th-place all-time (3,025) with former Allentown Central Catholic and University of Tennessee star Michelle Marciniak. More on the Rollers victory coming later.
