STEEL-HIGH, MILTON HERSHEY LIKELY TO DECIDE CAPITAL'S ENTRY IN MID-PENN TOURNAMENT ON FRIDAY AT CUMBERLAND VALLEY: Since Steel-High and Milton Hershey were declared Capital Division co-champions after finishing with identical 13-1 league records, those two are likely to play off for the right to participate in next week's four-team Mid-Penn tournament. That game is expected to be held at the Cumberland Valley Dome on Friday night, with a 7:30 tip anticipated. Steel-High and West Perry, which tied for the Capital Division girls' championship, will open the twinbill with a 6 p.m. tip. ... Elsewhere in the Capital, seniors Sheldon Deimler, Terek Weaver and Ryan McMillen shared 53 points and nine 3-pointers as West Perry stung Middletown by a 65-41 count.

LOWER DAUPHIN EDGES CLOSER TO POSTSEASON BERTH: In a game carrying all sorts of postseason ramifications -- good and bad, depending on one's perspective -- Lower Dauphin rode a combined 45 points from Jack Miller, Kaylor Kulina and Luke Rutledge to a must-have 60-51 triumph at Mechanicsburg. And while Mechanicsburg trimmed LD's second-half lead to one point, Mark Hofsass' Falcons were able to hold on for a victory that may have improved their No. 19 standing in the latest 3-AAAA power rankings. Despite 22 points from Collin Farnham, Bob Strickler's Wildcats may have seen their postseason hopes extinguished. ... Popping four players into double figures -- Gabe Mack (16), Jonas Page (13), Savalas Pope (12) and Takhi Turner (10) -- Susquehanna Twp. withstood a late rally before escaping Trinity with a 64-60 triumph that stretched the Indians' winning streak to 11 games. Josh Trumpy poured in 25 points for the Shamrocks, who trailed 38-27 at the halftime break. ... Derek Ford and Zack Galic shared 36 points as Cedar Cliff trimmed Red Land 59-52.
