NEFFSVILLE - Big-time players make big-time plays in big-time games.
McCaskey senior guard Diante Cherry is a big-time player.
And Friday night against Cedar Crest, he made big-time plays in a big-time game.
Cherry sparked McCaskey's second-half surge with 10 third-quarter points, including a couple of acrobatic transition plays, an and-1 and a clutch 3-pointer, as the Tornado overcame a halftime deficit, flexed its muscles and beat Cedar Crest 62-41 for its 13th L-L League championship - and second in a row.
Cherry scored 17 points and he was in the middle of everything.
From his third-quarter scoring barrage, to his hands-in-the-face D against Falcons' sharpshooter Killian Klopp, to lobbing a sweet alley-oop pass to Sha-Ki Staten for a second-half thunder dunk, Cherry had his fingerprints all over McCaskey's win - its 23rd in a row.
Chatted with Cherry after the game about the victory, about McCaskey's winning its 13th crown, and about where the Tornado goes from here. Take a look.
