NEFFSVILLE - Aaron Swinton made the call.
McCaskey's senior guard told his teammates at the half of Friday's L-L League boys' basketball championship game at Manheim Township that they all needed to kick it up a notch defensively against Cedar Crest.
The Falcons, who dropped their two regular-season meetings to the Tornado, led for most of the first half, and were ahead 23-21 at the break.
Then the Tornado's players took Swinton's words to heart, and the next thing you knew, McCaskey was on its merry way.
Using a punishing second-half full-court defense that led to 11 turnovers, McCaskey caught fire over the final 16 minutes and sashayed past Cedar Crest 62-41 for its second league title in a row and 13th overall - a record.

Diante Cherry paced the offense with a team-high 17 points - 10 in the pivotal third quarter, when the Tornado (23-2 overall) went from down 23-21 to ahead 42-31 in a blink of the eye.

In the third, Cherry had three transition layups - including a three-point play - and he splashed a 3-pointer as McCaskey seized control for good.
Swinton added a 3-pointer and Sha-Ki Staten, who had 10 points and a team-high 10 rebounds, converted a sweet alley-oop pass from Cherry into a dunk to highlight the Tornado's third-quarter tear.

Earlier, Cedar Crest's Andrew Eudy was big on the boards, scoring all 9 of his points in the first half, when the Falcons (16-9) led 11-9 after the first quarter - odd to see McCaskey score just 9 points in a quarter - and 23-21 at the break.
McCaskey's defense did two things particularly well:
Staten shadowed Cedar Crest slasher Clay Penchard, who was held to 7 points, and 4 of those points came late in the fourth quarter.
And the Tornado kept Falcons' snipers Killian Klopp and Evan Horn relatively in check. Klopp scored 15 points, but he hit just one 3 and 4 of his points came late once the game was decided. And Horn, who scored 27 points against Elizabethtown in the semifinals on Wednesday, had just 9 points in the finale.
Keyon Cowan added 12 points and 8 rebounds for McCaskey. Devonne Pinkard chipped in with 8 points; it was the first time the Tornado's 6-6 swingman failed to reach double figures in points.
