NEFFSVILLE - Stop me if you've heard this one before.

Hempfield won the L-L League boys' volleyball championship on Tuesday night.

Yeah, I know, right.

Make that 19 league crowns for the Black Knights, who added yet another banner to the wall in the gym compliments of a 3-0 victory over Section 2 champ Manheim Central at Manheim Township.

Game scores: 26-24, 25-23, 25-16.

The first two games were classic. In fact, Manheim Central, which took Hempfield to four games in the 2011 league finale, had game-point in the first and jetted to a quick 9-4 lead in the second.

But Hempfield, the Section 1 champ and No. 1 seed in the upcoming District 3 Class AAA tournament, dodged some bullets, survived, went up 2-0 and then cruised home in the third game to win yet another league gold trophy.

That's six titles in seven years for Hempfield.

This stat is even more impressive: Since the inception of the L-L League in 1990, the Knights have appeared in all but one league championship match.

Uno. That was in 2005, when Penn Manor won it all.

Penn Manor beat Hempfield in last year's title match - and in 1998.

Lancaster Mennonite knocked off the Knights in 2006.

And Cocalico won the first league crown - over Hempfield - back in 1990.

Chatted with Hempfield coach Mike Vogel on Tuesday after the Knights' latest title about the win over Manheim Central - and about looking ahead to the District 3 tournament, and beyond. Take a listen.
