Capital Area Swim League dual meets concluded last Saturday with Wildcat Swim Club, Dover, Central York Aquatics and Bobcat Swim Club clinching division titles.

Now it's time for the postseason.

It begins with four CASL Divisional Meets Saturday morning hosted by York YMCA (Division 4-A), Spring Grove (Division 3-A), Big Spring (Division 2-A) and Bobcat SC (Division 1-A). The top 16 times in each individual event and the top eight times in each relay event advance to the CASL All-Star Meet Sunday at Central York High School.

The top eight finishers in individual events and top four in relays from CASL All-Stars will join with the top eight/top four from Mid Penn Swim League All-Stars for the Mid-Cap Superstars Meet on July 27 at Hershey.

If you're new to summer age group swimming, here is quick crash course:

(Note: All 25-yard events, the 100 medley relay and 100 freestyle relay are 8&U events only)

Here are some quick highlights from the 2013 summer season, along with final CASL standings. It should be noted that some of the top seeded swimmers may not participate in the postseason due to conflicting USA Swimming club events:

NOTEWORTHY

  • NYAC's Seth Wenner, a freshly minted Cumberland Valley grad and incoming University of Pittsburgh freshman, leads all senior group swimmers in the 100 freestyle, 50 breaststroke and 100 IM.

  • One of Wenner's high school and club teammates, Jack Brenneman of NYAC, holds the top mark in the 50 butterfly with a slight edge over Wildcat Swim Club's Corey Stauffer and Wenner.

  • Dover's Aniella Janosky leads all CASL senior girls' swimmers in the 50 fly with a 27.31 and the 100 IM with a 1:03.69. Janosky's high school and club teammate, Summer Dacheux, owns the top senior mark in the 50 back.

  • Other top senior girls' swimmers include Shippensburg's Rachel Nye (50 free), Big Spring's Brooke Basehore (100 free) and East Pennsboro's Emily Foster (50 breaststroke).
