Each Monday during the football season, members of the PennLive prep football coverage team will pass out three game balls to deserving gridiron athletes. So without further ado....
1. Ian Garman, DB, Boiling Springs: Win No. 1 for the Bubblers in 2013 came over rival Big Spring 34-25. The Boiling Springs defense played a major role in the second half of that nine-point victory. Garman had a pair of second-half interceptions as the Bubblers’ defense, which had been shredded for nearly 100 points through 10 quarters, limited Big Spring to a single touchdown and less than 100 yards the final 24 minutes.
2. Michael Lewis, QB, Palmyra: Cougars snapped that 13-game losing streak with a 31-30 victory over Donegal. Lewis threw the winning TD pass to Mitchell Cooper from 16 yards out to account for the only points of the final 12 minutes. Lewis finished with 253 passing yards with four touchdowns and one interception. He completed 21 of 37 passes. Staring loss No. 14 in the face, Lewis came through in the clutch to earn a well-deserved game ball.
3. Jailen Harmon, RB, Hershey: One week after scoring four touchdowns, Harmon continues to shine for the undefeated Trojans. The senior brought his two-week touchdown total to seven with three more scores in a Week 3 35-28 triumph over Cedar Crest. Harmon rushed for 149 yards on only 10 carries as part of a ground attack that piled up 369 yards. Harmon averaged a stellar 14.9 per carry.
