Early leaders
When it is still December, the local swimming leaderboard can be a bit tricky. Not everyone is aiming for peak performances right out of the gate.
But the top of the leaderboard is always the best place to be. Jack Brenneman of Cumberland Valley and Austin Doss are there twice.
Brenneman leads the midstate with his 51.61 in the 100 butterfly and his 21.62 in the 50 freestyle. Doss is on top of the 200 freestyle list with a 1:42.59 and the 500 freestyle list with a 4:44.43.
The entire boys' leaderboard can be found here.
For the girls, there are already a few performances that stand out above others. Raab has a 55.16 in the 100 backstroke, almost seven seconds better than the next-best time. Raab, Vivian Tafuto, Gabi Broschard and Maddelyn Veith have a 1:45.20 in the 200 medley relay, eight seconds better than any other time.
Cumberland Valley's Sabrina Mortell has all the competition beaten by 16 seconds with a 5:05.85 in the 500 freestyle.
The entire girls' leaderboard can be found here.
Any errors or omissions on either leaderboard should be reported to dbohr@pennlive.com
This swimming column will return in January.
