LORETTO — At least they made things interesting.

Trying to find a way into the PIAA Class AAAA tournament despite a 2-20 regular-season record, Drew Frank's State College Little Lions had that journey come to an end as Altoona booked a 44-31 decision in the District 6-AAAA championship game Thursday night at St. Francis University.

Tyler Hall scored 10 points for State High (4-21), which defeated Hollidaysburg and top-seeded Mifflin County just to reach Thursday night's final.

Manny Span bagged 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for Altoona (13-9), which claimed its first 6-AAAA title since 2008. The Mountain Lions, who will play Kiski Area or North Allegheny when states open next Saturday, also picked up 12 points from Jermaine Samuel.
