Its' early in the boys' lacrosse season, but already classic games are on the schedule.

Neither rain or snow nor gloom of night could keep this classic matchup between Trinity and Cumberland Valley from occurring.  Coming off a two-game winning streak, Trinity prevailed by a 8-5 score and improved its record to 3-0.

Mitch Kleist opened up the scoring in the first quarter unassisted and then Kyle Scott scored an extra-man goal seconds later.

Cumberland Valley's Rod Jamison scored the Eagles' first goal with five minutes remaining. Then standout midfielder John Miller started doing what he does very well — scoring goals. Trinity's junior captain scored four goals, three of them unassisted. He had help from Scott, who had two goals and an assist of his own.

Brady Bowman started the second half off with his second goal, this time assisted by Tom Lehman to make the score 5-2. Trinity's CJ Sherlock answered right back with his own goal assisted by Scott.

Lehman scored again in the fourth quarter, followed by teammate Nick Zumbrim, who finally get one of his lightning shots past Trinity keeper Austin Bailey. Miller then score the final two goals in the last period.

"It was kind of hard to adjust to the cold" said Miller. "We made a lot of mistakes, but they did too, which kept us in the game. I really think our defense stepped up today to keep us ahead, and allowed us to keep shooting on cage. Our shots were pretty clean tonight."

Cumberland Valley keeper Brandon Pagni managed just one save

Junior captain Austin Bailey finished the game with an impressive 10 saves. He agreed with Miller.

"Our defense played great," he said.
