Thomas Arentz will have one less thing to think about during his final year at Cumberland Valley. The Eagles' senior decided Monday that he'll continue his lacrosse career at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia.
"On the drive in, I could see that the campus was beautiful and it has a great academic reputation in the area," Arentz said.
"I got a chance to meet some of the students and I felt like I could go there and make an immediate impact, because I want to play all four years.
Schools such as Elizabethtown, Mary Washington, Gwynedd-Mercy and Frostburg State were also on Arentz's list, but after visiting CNU during a prospect day in Janaury, Arentz felt like he found the right fit.
"It was pretty cool, because they ran us through one of their practices and we got to do a lot of one-on-one drills," he said.
"After that, Coach [Todd] Boward and I stayed in pretty close contact."
Arentz was part of a Cumberland Valley team that made huge strides last spring, but finished one win short of reaching the District 3 playoffs. In addition to his high school lacrosse duties, Arentz also played club lacrosse for Dave Webster's Central PA Dawgs.
Earlier this summer, Arentz represented Pennsylvania in the 2014 Brine All-American Lacrosse Classic.
