With L-L League football Media Day set for Aug. 5, and with pigskin camps set to open on Aug. 11, PennLive presents 12 players to watch for the upcoming season.

The players are listed in no particular order, and we'll release one a day over the next 12 days.

Here’s No. 8: Penn Manor senior Tanner Erisman.

POSITION: Quarterback

2013 STATS/HONORS: Erisman earned Section 1 honorable mention all-star honors after completing 102-of-178 passes (57 percent) for 1,383 yards with 11 TD tosses for the Comets, who went 9-3 after falling to league foe Wilson in the District 3-AAAA quarterfinals.

Final 2013 L-L League football stats

NOTABLE: Erisman and his teammates are heading to Ireland for their season opener, Aug. 29 vs. Cedar Cliff. Not only will the game be played in Dublin, but it’s also a rematch of the last two District 3-AAAA first-round games. Penn Manor beat Cedar Cliff 43-10 in 2012, and the Comets clipped the Colts 35-34 last fall.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Last fall, Charles Bell grabbed a lot of headlines. And why not? The University of Delaware recruit rushed for 1,473 yards and 22 TD, caught 22 passes, took direct snaps out of the wildcat, and he was the unanimous Back of the Year and Outstanding Back of the Year in Section 1. The offense flowed through Bell and all-star RB LaVonta Jones, who rushed for 987 yards and 9 TD. Erisman, in his first year as the full-time starter, was asked to manage the game and get the ball to Bell and Jones. He did a great job. Now those guys — plus hammer all-star FB Logan Kinser — have moved on. So the Comets will be calling upon Erisman to make more plays with his arm, while the backfield gets settled. Enjoy that flight to Ireland — and another go-round with Cedar Cliff, this time on foreign soil.
