Parkland High School's girls volleyball team was light on experience but high on athleticism entering this season.
Saturday, the Trojans gained some winning experience and a major feather in their cap.
Parkland triumphed at the ultra-competitive Spartan Invitational tournament at Garden Spot High School. The Trojans defeated two-time defending PIAA Class AAA champion Hempfield in the final 25-20, 19-25, 15-13.
Parkland topped Berks Catholic in the semifinals and Cumberland Valley in the quarterfinals after going unbeaten in pool play.
Central Catholic and Southern Lehigh failed to make it out of pool play. The Vikings were eliminated in a one-game playoff with Cumberland Valley.
