The Gettysburg girls' basketball team are starting to look like real contenders on the hardwood this winter.
The Warriors, out of Mid-Penn Colonial Division, traveled to Delone Catholic Saturday night and beat the perennial York-Adams and District 3-AA powerhouse on their own floor 45-38 in a non-conference matchup to move to 5-0 overall.
Gettysburg won the game on the strength of a 15-7 final-quarter run. The Squirettes led 31-30 heading into the fourth. Cami Boehner scored 21 points for the Warriors coming off her 26-point effort on Friday.
Boehner was the only player on either team to eclipse double-digits in points. Maddie Comley led Delone with nine.
MID-PENN OTHERS
Saturday's slate was full of non-cons and crossovers. The only Mid-Penn divisional game of the night featured winless teams in Northern and Milton Hershey in a Capital Division matchup. The host Spartans (1-5, 1-1) prevailed 27-23 behind Aisha Freeman's 10 points for their first win. Northern (0-5, 0-2) was led by Steph Clark's 11. ... Bishop McDevitt (2-1) doubled its win total from last season in a 60-33 non-conference win over Schuylkill Valley. Three Crusaders, led by Mikki Archie's 15 points, hit double-digits. ... Cedar Cliff dropped a 50-40 decision at York-Adams entrant Northeastern. The Colts (1-3) heated up as the game wore on, but a three-point first quarter had the team behind the eight-ball from the tip. Kasey Dare and Cassie Ullrich each had 12 to lead the Colts. Northeastern's Jordyn Kloster led all scorers with 16. ... Red Land's Danielle June led all scorers with 16 points (12-13 free throws) in the Patriots' 54-45 win over York Suburban, the club's first of the season (1-2). Bella Ricci added 11 for the winners. ... West Perry stayed perfect (5-0) with a 60-8 flattening of winless Waynesboro in a Mid-Penn crossover. Megan Smith's 20 led the Mustangs. ... Mount Lebanon defeated Central Dauphin 75-44. The Rams fell to 2-2.
OTHERS
Lebanon Catholic moved to 3-1 on the season with a 56-53 win over fellow small-school power Nativity in a non-con tilt. Holly Marinkov's seventh 3-pointer of the game won it for the Beavers with :07 to play. ... ... In Tri-Valley action, Millersburg beat new league member Lancaster Country Day 30-19. Kayla Snyder led the victorious Indians (4-1, 3-0) with 15 points. Jayme Verman had 12 for LCD (0-4, 0-2). ... Harrisburg Christian beat Lancaster County Christian 65-36 to move to 4-1. Macaela Campbell led the winners with 19 points. ... Christian School of York hit the two-point conversion to nip New Covenant Christian 12-10.
