LANCASTER - The L-L League welcomed yet another 1,000-point scorer to its club on Tuesday night.
Hempfield senior standout Drew Johnson needed 21 points vs. McCaskey to hit 1,000 on the dot.
He scored 21 on the dot - and hit the milestone in the Knights' 84-55 setback to the fourth-ranked AAAA team in the state.
VIDEO: Drew Johnson interview.
Johnson is enjoying yet another fine season for Hempfield. He's scored 20 or more points in a game severn times this season, including his 21-point effort on Tuesday vs. McCaskey.
Johnson also hit for a career-high 35 points twice this season - on December 12 in a loss to Lancaster Catholic and again on January 7 in a loss to Manheim Township.
Looks like Hempfield is safe for a District 3 AAAA bid, so Johnson will be able to add to his total - while driving the Knights to stay alive in the postseason.
Johnson is the fifth L-L League boys' player to score his 1,000th point this season, joining ...
And Northern Lebanon's Sam Light.
Two more L-L League players are in line to hit 1,000 this season: Elizabethtown's teammates Tyler Koser (984) and Lucas Jewell (916) are closing in on the milestone. The Bears will have at least one league playoff and one District 3 AAAA playoff game.
